Football season is now officially underway. Our McNeese cowboys are off to a great start, so I thought we'd take a look at football today. Now, I'm not a real hardcore fan, but I do enjoy a good game, and there are a few teams I follow.

I'm pretty familiar with the rules, but there's plenty I don't know about the sport. I decided I'd improve my education, so I've turned to the folks at Mental Floss to help me write this. Let's face it, the more you know about a sport, the more fun it is to watch.

Did you know that back in the early days of the sport, a field goal was actually the way to win a game because they were worth more points than a touchdown? We also love it when a player gives some kid in the stands a ball, but did you know that the NFL fines players up to $5,000 for doing that?
