We hear all these Christmas songs non-stop during the season, and we prety much take Christmas songs at face value, but it turns out that a great many of these holiday favorites have some pretty interesting stories about them.

Take the sweet, innocent little song "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." Back when it was released in 1952, the Catholic Church decided that the song was not appropriate. In response to that ruling, Columbia records flew the singer of that song, 13 year-old Jimmy Boyd, out to meet officials of the church and, meeting the kid behind the song convinced the committee that the song was harmless. It went on to sell 6 million copies!

You'll find a host of other stories behind some great Christmas classics in this great video from Mental Floss.
