Mardi Gras is for everyone, but sometimes, families, especially those with small children, have trouble finding an area that is family friendly. Well, all that changes this year.

The Lake Charles City Council met on Wednesday of this week and decided that Lock Park would be a 'Family Friendly Zone' for this year's Mardi Gras parades.

As part of that resolution, LCPD will enforce a code that :

prohibits the possession, consumption and/or sale of alcoholic beverages in parks within the City and prohibit parking within the Lock Park grounds during the 2015 Mardi Gras parades.

John Cardone, Lake Charles City Administrator added that,

“Each year we revisit the Lock Park ‘Family Friendly Zone' resolution prior to the Mardi Gras festivities to reemphasize our City's commitment to this important issue. We want everyone to enjoy the City parks during Mardi Gras, but we also want to ensure that Lock Park and the other City parks provide a family friendly atmosphere during this time,"
