How to Ripen an Avocado in Just Minutes in Your Oven
I love avocados, but I don't buy them as often as I'd like because sometimes I'm just not in the mood to go through the selection to find one that is just right. You know yourself that when you're looking for an avocado to have right away what a chore it can be to find one that isn't as squishy as a damp rag or as hard as a rock.
It's funny how, if you seem to know what you are looking for, how many people will ask you for help. When I'm in the mood, I'll give every avocado in the bin the old squeeze test. Invariably, someone standing nearby will ask if I will help them pick out one as well. I feel a great deal of pressure when that happens, because you want to further the illusion that you know what you are doing.
Well, I just stumbled across this video this morning, and it could mean an end to the long selection process when you're looking for that prize avocado at the grocery store. It's as simple as popping it in your oven. Next time you're faced with the chore of finding an avocado for dinner that night, go ahead and pick one that's fairly firm, then stick it in the oven at about 200 degrees!
