McNeese travels 70 miles east on I-10 for Game 2 of the 2016 season as they take on the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns at Cajun Field.

After getting off to a slow start last week, the Cowboys dominated the final 3 quarters against Tarleton State, winning their season opener 33-3. McNeese rolled up 568 yards of total offense, 210 on the ground and 358 through the air. Defensively, McNeese allowed just 134 yards to the Texan's offense, 139 passing and -5 on the ground.

Earlier in the day, the Cajuns struggled against the high-powered offense of Boise State, falling 45-10. In that game, the Cajuns gave up 584 yards to the Bronco's offense while picking up 267. The Cajuns are led by former LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings. Jennings completed 21 of 33 pass attempts for 186 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in his Cajun debut. Elijah McGuire led the Cajuns in rushing with 45 yards on 15 carries. He also was the leading receiver with 6 catches for 40 yards.

The Cowboys won the last meeting between the 2 schools, 38-17 back in 2007. McNeese leads the series 20-15-2, though the 2 teams have met only once since 1986.
