A Casey Kasem AT 40 the 70’s Preview [VIDEO] T- Rex Climbing the Charts
As you may know, each Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.., we rebroadcast the original American Top 40 shows from the 70's. It's always a fun listen for a variety of reasons. for one thing, we get to hear songs that never really made it!
This weekend, in the category of "never really made it", we have "Take a Look Around" by the Temptations and last ditch effort to get back on the charts by the recently abandoned Supremes called "Floy Joy."
Then, there are songs that went on to become classics. On march 18, 1972 a group called T-Rex was climbing fast with their only American hit "Bang a Gong."
You just might recognize the piano player in the band. He wasn't famous yet.
The "mystery" keyboard player is really revealed at around the 2:00 mark.
