It's another encouraging sign of COVID-19 restrictions being eased across the state, as crawfish field tours are starting back up in Jeff Davis Parish.

Jeff Davis Parish Tourist Commission Marketing Director Dione Sabelhaus told the American Press it's been a slow year for tourism in their parish due to the pandemic.  However, she said there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, as schools are starting to book crawfish field tours for next school year and they're hoping they can return to their pre-COVID levels.

With these tours, families and groups can see from start to finish how crawfish are raised, harvested, and distributed around the world. Tours can be booked on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings during the crawfish harvest season.

The tour will take you to several crawfish farms across Jeff Davis Parish. CDC and state COVID-19 protocols like social distancing, wearing a mask, and group sizes will be observed on all the tours.

If you would like to book a tour, you can call the Jeff Davis Parish Tourist Commission at 337- 824-5521.
