For the past few years, there has been a lot of hope for the Cowboys. They've had a dominating defense. Their offense has shown sparks of brilliance. It seems that the 'Boys have been poised to finally take that next step and finally win another Super Bowl...but, for whatever reason, they've just stumbled whenever the post season starts.

The good news is that I don't believe post season struggles are going to be an issue for the Cowboys this year. The bad news is that the reason I don't think there will be post season struggles is that I don't think they are going to make the playoffs.

And, just for the record, I don't think the Cowboys have a bad team. But, so far this off season, there has been nothing but off-field distractions. Several of their star offensive players are having contract disputes with the team including Zeke Elliott, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper. Zeke has had...lets just say legal issues to contend with. Dak is a rising star and has been shooting TV commercials and working on everything but the game of football.

And, that lack of focus and commitment to the Cowboys is showing up on the football field. During the first few days of practice, Dak Prescott hasn't been able to complete a pass and has thrown numerous interceptions. Ones that in an actual game would be "Pick 6" going the other way. The team doesn't look like a football team focused on winning a championship. At least on the offensive side of the ball.

Now, I understand it is way too early. The Boys have yet to play their first pre-season game. But, as a student of the game and someone who watches everything football, they just appear to be a team destined to fall apart. They appear to be one of those teams with all the potential in the world...but without the drive or coaching to get them to that next level.

Their Defense will be incredible this year, as they have been the past few seasons. I just don't see the offense getting their act together to be a threat of any sort. Which is sad really...because this a Super Bowl caliber team that, if recent history has shown us anything, won't put the pieces together until it is way too late.
