We did get a few phone calls about the green water, so our news director, Scott Lewis, got in touch with authorities to find out just what was up with the water.

The answer is not particularly exciting.

According to the Westlake Police Department, the green water in a marsh under Interstate-10 is coming from harmless green dye that Phillips 66 crews are using to conduct drainage testing. It's not a nasty chemical and it's not harmful. It's just green.

The dye is bio-degradable and helps show the water flow, ensuring drainage is flowing correctly.
