The picture may not ring a bell. In fact, the name may not mean a thing to most people. But the man in the picture, Jerry West, is famous far beyond his basketball career.

So, why is Jerry West so famous?

His nickname was "Mr. Clutch" and he played his entire professional career for the Lakers. The nickname came from his penchant for making big plays in 'clutch' situations like his buzzer beating shot that tied game 3 of the NBA finals in 1970.

While West was an outstanding player, he's probably better known, not by his name so much as he is his silhouette!
