Where Do We Find the Best Donuts?

Today is National Doughnut Day and many of the donutters (my won term) are offering up a free donut to customers today. Now, I didn't grow up here and my favorite doughnut shops aren't even located in the area. That's not to say I haven't had some incredible donuts!

When I was a kid, there was a company called Veal's Donuts. I haven't had a Veal's doughnut in decades and I'm pretty certain that they are not as incredible as my memory insists, but in my memory, they are the best anywhere.
All this talk about donuts has made hungry for a really well known doughnut. The question is, where do I go to get the best doughnut?
