To be perfectly clear, I have YET to actually stay in an Air Bnb. I tried one time a few years ago but it got canceled due to good ole COVID. Big surprise, right? However, I do look quite often around for them at random places I would love to go if I didn't work 6 days a week trying to make enough money to take a vacation that I will never take because I work so much. That was a run-on sentence, but you get the idea.

I decided, well, maybe I could just find one locally and have a staycation. It would be cheaper on fuel, and I would at least know the area I am going to stay in. Seems fair. There are a ton of beautiful places to rent in our very one backyard. There are beach houses out near Holly Beach, little cabins near the Sabine, and camps on the water near Hackberry even. Prices are extremely manageable especially if you get some friends to go hang out and stay with you. The price part got me thinking: I wonder what the most expensive BnB in Lake Charles is? I found it! Minus not having a pool, it didn't disappoint.

For security reasons, Air BnB does not disclose the actual address of the homes you are looking at. Once you book them, then you get all of that information. However, this house that is called the "Ihles Retreat" will tell you what road it sits on. Plus, most of us in that area know where this house is exactly. The ad for the Air BnB positions the house as a retreat area with a scenic view of Henderson Bayou. That should really narrow down for locals where it is to a "T"

The inside is just giant and would be great for a group of friends wanting to get away, but not spend a billion dollars on gas. It has 4 bedrooms, to of the rooms have bunk beds. The master, of course, has its own bathroom. The next bedroom has one down the hall from it, and the bunk bedrooms share their own bathroom. The house even has wood fireplaces and a beautiful back porch to watch the sunset and have a beverage. I would probably be found out there passed out more than likely.

Here's why you have kept reading this far. How much is it? $1,029 a night will get you this palace in our own backyard. To be honest, comparing it to other houses of that size, it's pretty spot-on for what is being offered in other cities for this type of place to stay. If you get it for a week, plus service fees ($1,059) and a $300 cleaning fee. 7 days at the Ihles Retreat in Lake Charles will cost you $8,559 before tax. So basically a few sheets of plywood and a few gallons of gas, at this point in our lives.
