A woman from Vinton was arrested for child desertion and multiple drug charges according to the Calcalsieu Parish Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to a 911 call concerning a two year old boy in the middle of Nichols Street in Vinton.  The caller told CPSO dispatch that they didn't know how long the infant had been on the road but that he was brought back to his home by a witness.

Upon arrival, Deputies found the young boy and his mother, Anastasia J. Waddell of Vinton, passed out in a chair.  They were able to wake her up and noticed what seemed to be synthetic marijuana in her lap.  While searching the premises they found more illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Waddell was arrested and charged with child desertion, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of synthetic marijuana, and possession of a Schedule IV drug.

The Father of the two year old by was given custody of his son by the Department of Children and Family Services.
