It's starting to look like Southwest Louisiana is going to see quite a bit more rain before we reach the middle of the week. Anywhere from 1-3 inches is expected through Wednesday.

Calcasieu Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP) said it's time to take precautions if you're in flood-prone areas -- especially since we're already looking at flood-swollen waterways now.

“We are asking Calcasieu citizens to take precautions,” said Calcasieu OHSEP Director Dick Gremillion in a press release today (Monday).

“Tropical systems like this can be very unpredictable.  They can stall out or cause isolated locations to receive tremendous amounts of rain in a short period of time.  Residents should make sure drainage systems around their homes are free of debris and obstructions.  Most importantly it’s crucial to avoid driving through flooded areas, as that’s the most common cause of loss of life in events like this.”

While the bulk of the storm sound land in Southeastern Texas, Louisiana is still going to take on some storm conditions. It also has an 80% chance of turning into a tropical depression or even Tropical Storm Bill by Tuesday.
