It seemed like just another rainy morning until we started getting calls from listeners asking if a tornado had touched down in Lake Charles in the area of Highway 14 known as Greenwich Village. We made several calls and found that the story was true.

At about 7:30 this morning, an EF-1 tornado did indeed touch down in the vicinity of Taylor and Roosevelt streets in the Village. The tornado stayed on the ground for roughly 1/10th of a mile and did damage to homes in that area.

Lake Charles Police and Lake Charles Fire Department both responded to the call.

We're sorry to hear about the damage to the homes, but happy to report that there were no injuries.

Many thanks to our friends at KPLC for allowing us to use their picture of the damage caused by the tornado. For more pictures, just check out the KPLC website.
