It's the first full weekend of 2022 and if you are looking to bust out of the house and do something this weekend, there are a ton of events going on.

There is a local festival going on, Mardi kick-off events, and plenty of live music in the Lake Charles and Southwest Louisiana area.

Lake Charles will kick off the Mardi Gras season tonight and go through Saturday. On Friday, January 7th: inside the Lake Charles Civic Center Coliseum will be the Costumed Parade of the Krewes. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the presentation is at 7 p.m.

The Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival gets underway tonight at the Burton Complex and runs through Saturday, Jan 8th with live music all day Saturday starting at 1:00 pm.  Here is the lineup.

  • 1:00 pm. to 3:00 pm    Junior LaCrosse  

  • 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm     Steel Shot 

  • 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm    Geno Delafose & the French Rockin' Boogie 

  • 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm     Beau Young Band 

  • 9:30 pm to 11:30 pm    Wayne Toups

Beauxdines' restaurant at 3013 Ryan Street in Lake Charles will have Buddy Andrews will play Friday night and Dani Lacour will perform Saturday night.  Both artists play from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
