The New Orleans Saints Trade Up, Take C Erik McCoy From A&M
The New Orleans Saints continued their aggressive trend of moving up in the NFL Draft as they traded with the Miami Dolphins to push their way higher in the Second Round.
The Saints traded up from 62nd to 48th overall in the 2019 NFL Draft, the team selected Erik McCoy, a center from Texas A&M.
In order to make the deal with the Dolphins, the Saints sent picks No. 62 in the second round, No. 202 in the sixth round and additionally a second-round pick in 2020. New Orleans in return received the No. 48 pick in the second round and No. 116 in the fourth round of this year's draft.
New Orleans didn't have a fourth-round selection before this trade with the Dolphins and will now have less wait time on Day 3 of the Draft.
This will mark the third straight year that the Saints have traded a future pick in the top two rounds as they dealt their 2019 first-round pick to move up in 2018 to draft defensive end Marcus Davenport. In 2017 they sent their 2018 second-round pick to move up for running back Alvin Kamara.
