A 2 year old child was taken to a local hospital with burns on October 9th. The hospital transferred the child to a Baton Rouge hospital and notified the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office. The child's mother said the child had gotten into the tub while she was out of the room. Baton Rouge investigators did not believe her story.
So is your hospital safe? According to a recent Associated Press story an estimated 1 in 20 patients pick up infections they didn't have when they arrived, some caused by dangerous 'superbugs' that are hard to treat.
UPDATE 10:10 a.m. -- DeQuincy Memorial representatives confirmed that they are evacuating some patients to Vinton after a portion of the roof was blown off the facility. The hospital, however, is still open and receiving patients as needed.
