It's practically a landmark. Just about everyone has had 'The Usual' for breakfast or a late night burger from K.D.'s. Thanks to the Lake Charles Fire Department, that landmark will re-open in a few days.

I saw some video shot from the interstate of the Axiall incident last week. I saw none from inside the plant grounds though. This video was shot from inside a plant when an explosion happened.

At about 1:45 this afternoon we started getting calls from listeners about a possible fire at a plant in Westlake. We could see the smoke being blown to the north from our studios on the lakefront in Lake Charles. We were informed by the Office of Emergency Management that there had been a fire at Axiall (the old PPG) and that there had been a hydrochloric acid release.

File this under unexplainable:  A Winnsboro woman ends up in the hospital Sunday night covered in third-degree burns.  She says she was attacked by three men in white hoodies.  On her car, someone has painted "KKK" and racial slurs.  Just when everyone's hackles get raised, authorities say that the truth was, she set HERSELF on fire.  Say what?

Local firebugs are going to have to “chill out” thanks to dry and hot conditions. Even with Thursday and Friday’s rains, Calcasieu Parish has decided to renew its burn ban for the next month.

Cormie's Grocery was not your typical fast stop grocery store. Cormie's was a landmark known for it's good food and neighborhood service. The landmark was destroyed last night by an enormous blaze.
