Tyler Manick headed to Lake Charles, Louisiana to help Entergy restore power after Hurricane Laura less than one day after being told he was cancer-free.

It took a little more than a month to get over 93,000 south Louisiana residents back online following Hurricane Laura.

Service has been restored to over one hundred thousand customers in the area in a little less than three weeks.

Hundreds of thousands of customers were brought back online over the weekend, still, many more remain without power this morning.

The planned outage is part of a systems and equipment upgrade for the area.

There's a large power outage from Broad Street and Enterprise Boulevard and west to Ryan Street.

If you get a call from Entergy demanding payment by a prepaid credit card, it's a scam

The scams are coming fast and furious these days. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) the latest scam involves people claiming they are from Entergy and are collecting past due amounts.

Imagine you have not been able to go into your kitchen for 7 byears because the floor had rotted out and you just could not afford to have it fixed. Imagine not being able to heat or cool your home because the electric bill is too high. There is help.

I got a release from Carmen Million BBB President warning local customers of Entergy about a new con claiming to be collecting on late bills. Several consumers and businesses have been the target of this scam.

There have already been two named storms in the Gulf so far. If you were here for Hurricane Rita, you know the dread we all feel at the beginning of a new season. We can't prevent hurricanes from coming, but we can be prepared.  The folks at Entergy have announced their plans should we take another hit.
