Spring Sports Begin This Week At McNeese
Basketball season is heading into the home stretch out at McNeese, which means it's time for softball and baseball!
The Cowgirl and Cowboy basketball teams are in the final half of their conference schedules. The men will host New Orleans at 7 on Thursday at Burton, While the women will play Saturday at the Coliseum at 12:45 against Texas A&M Corpus Christi as part of a doubleheader. The Southland Conference tournament gets under way on March 7th in Katy.
The defending conference champion Cowgirls softball team opens their season on Thursday at Cowgirl Diamond against Southern Mississippi. The Cowgirls have been picked to repeat as SLC champions again. Jr. Erika Paincastelli will lead a team that just missed playing in the NCAA regional finals last May in Baton Rouge.
The Cowboys baseball team will begin play on the 17th at Joe Miller Ballpark as they host Stony Brook in the 2017 Cowboy Classic. Also participating in the Classic will be Missouri State and Rhode Island. There will be 2 games each day at The Jeaux. The Pokes have been picked to finish 4th in the SLC this coming season.
Season tickets are on sale at the Jack Doland field house for both baseball and softball. Both teams will be hosting LSU this year. So get your tickets and come join us at the ballpark!
