Let's have some fun with this one.

I recently started looking into a few state symbols for our great state of Louisiana and I was quickly reminded of a few that I honestly forgot about.

Sure, I remember the state bird and our state capital, but what I forgot about was the state song for Louisiana.

The song is, "You Are My Sunshine" and if you don't know the song, check it out.

And while this may be an elegant song that represents the state of Louisiana, I started to think, what if we replaced the song for a week?

What five songs would I choose to represent our great state, immediately I started to think of songs we love in the "Bayou State."

So, here are my five songs to replace "You Are My Sunshine" for seven days. Of course, this is all out of fun, so don't take it too seriously.

For starters, I'd consider "Take My Hand" by Wayne Toups. Chances are you've heard it at a festival or wedding and anytime it is played this song packs a dancefloor in Louisiana.

Next, if that song wouldn't get the vote, I'd consider the one song that gets 99% of people dancing on a Saturday night in the club, bar, or at a wedding reception. Yes, it is "Back That Thang Up."

For years I have seen ALL ages enjoy this one here.

For some that may be a bit much, but you can't deny its success in the "Boot."

Next, I'd consider another great sing-along and the song is titled "Tee Nah Nah". Play this song at any family gathering or wedding reception in Louisiana and people of all ages are singing it.

Let's move on to nomination #4 and this song may now be the biggest line dance in the world and it was produced right here in Acadiana.

Our local artist Cupid is known around the world because of this one and it needs no explanation. Even Maw Maw knows this one.

Lastly, if we were to replace "You Are My Sunshine" as the state song for one week, we should probably consider "Callin' Baton Rouge".

After all, when Garth Brooks performed this song live in LSU's Tiger Stadium, a small earthquake registered on campus.

So there are my five nominations to replace the state song of Louisiana, now I need to get in touch with our Lt. Governor and see how he feels about this and how they could perhaps help or hinder our image down south.

I do ask, what song would you nominate here? Have some fun and let us know in the comment section on the social media page that linked you to this story.
