SLC Little League Former President Arrested for Theft
Jason Hungerford, 42, was arrested on June 30 with a warrant for theft exceding $25,000. He is being accused of stealing money from the South Lake Charles Little League. Commander Gene Pittman with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's office told KPLC that only $72 remained in the league's bank account when the new president took over the league.
Due to the season not happening in 2020, its estimated by Pittman that there should have been close to $70,000 in the league's account. That is a drastic difference in the actual total the League currently has. Pittman said that the investigation began in May of last year after the new president took over. Receipts were found from restaurants and hotels not involving the league at all. There was also some instances involving ATM withdrawals, self-written checks, and checks made to cash. Pittman claims that the former president stole somewhere around $105,000.
The investigation is still ongoing and the South Lake Charles Little League told KPLC they are cooperation fully with the investigation. Hungerford's bond was set at $15,000 and he has bonded out.
