Seven Women in Louisiana and Texas Are Now on Death Row
We sometimes forget that evil is blind. It comes in all forms, regardless of race, creed, color, age or gender.
In these cases, it happens to come in the form of women. The women of Louisiana and Texas who are currently sitting on Death Row, awaiting their ultimate punishment.
Here in the Bayou State we currently only have one woman who holds this auspicious position, but she's a dandy.
Meet Antoinette Frank - Louisiana's Only Female on Death Row
In what could be the plot of incredible murder mystery movie, this former New Orleans Police Officer teamed with her alleged boyfriend/drug dealer, Rogers Lacaze on March 4, 1995 to commit a violent robbery of a New Orleans restaurant in which two members of the family who ran the restaurant and fellow NOPD officer Ronald A. Williams II were all murdered.
Taking only 22 minutes to return a guilty verdict in the trial, the jury only needed another 45 minutes to recommend the death penalty for Frank. She was sentenced to death on October 20, 1995 and still sits on death row at the Louisiana Correctional Institute for Women in St. Gabriel, Louisiana.
Texas Women On Death Row - First Off Is Kimberly Cargill
It was June 18, 2010 and Kimberly Cargill, who was 43-years-old at the same was embroiled amidst a child protective case.
Court records indicate she didn't want the victim to testify against her, so she told the victim she would come and get her and hide her so she would not be required to testify. Cargill then claims the victim had a seizure and quit breathing while they were driving. She drove her to a county road, doused the victim with lighter fluid and set her clothes on fire. Subject then left the scene.
Linda Carty
The date was May 16, 2001, and Linda Carty, who was 42-years-old at the time, along with co-defendants Chris Robinson, Gerald Anderson and Carlos Williams invaded a home and kidnapped a 25-year-old female and her newborn son.
The victim died of suffocation but thankfully the infant was found unharmed. Carty was found guilty and sentenced to death in March of 2002.
Brittany Holberg
On November 13, 1996 when Holberg was 23-years-old, Holberg robbed and murdered an 80-year-old male in his home in Amarillo. She's been on Texas' death row since March 27, 1998
Melissa Lucio
On February 17, 2007, paramedics were dispatched to a residence where they found an unresponsive two-year-old child who subsequently died. Evidence of abuse led to the arrest and conviction of Lucio, the child’s mother and co-defendant Robert Alvarez.
Lucio has been on Texas death row since August 12, 2008.
Darlie Lynn Routier
June 6, 1996. Darlie Routier is 26-years-old when she stabbed to death her 5-year-old and 6-year-old sons. After being found guilty of the double-murder, and sentenced to death, Routier has been on Texas death row since February 5, 1997.
Erica Sheppard
On June 30, 1993, Sheppard, 19-years-old and co-defendant, James R. Dickerson murdered a 43-year-old woman in her home in order to rob her of her car.
She was sentenced to die for her crime and has sat on Texas death row since April 25, 1995.
