There is a buzz in SWLA about the McNeese Cowboys football team this season. Second year head coach Frank Wilson has the Pokes poised to make a run for at the Southland Conference Championship. Wilson is a former LSU Tiger position coach who won several SEC and national awards during his tenure there. He brings a recruiting pedigree that can't be rivaled. Wilson grew up in New Orleans and played football at Nicholls State from 1994-1996.

Defensive lineman and sack machine, Isaiah Chambers, has been named to three preseason All-American lists so far and I'm sure there are more to come. Fifth year senior QB Cody Orgeron will lead the Cowboys into battle this year with a huge showdown against his dad, Ed Orgeron, on September 11 in Death Valley.

The season begins with a home game Saturday, September 4 at 12:00pm in The Hole against Div II powershouse West Florida.
