Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso is warning area businesses to be on the lookout (BOLO) that a man is attempting to scam them buy selling them sandwiches to fundraise, but never delivers the sandwich.

Detectives fielding complaints have ID'd the alleged scammer as Michael L. Derrick a 49-year-old from Westlake. Derrick has been seen in a grey 2012 Nissan SUV.

Victims alleged Derrick approached them, in some cases using a fake name, claiming the money is for family members who are sick or needful of surgery. Derrick insists the victims pay for the sandwiches upfront and they'll be delivered later. So far no known sandwiches have shown up at the victim's locations.

A presumption of innocence is in play, but detectives are eager to speak with Mr. Derrick to clear up any misunderstandings. Heck, he might be someplace right now making those sandwiches, authorities just want to check it out.
