Sam’s Club Announces Major Change At All 79 Texas Locations
Sam's Club just announced that they will be implementing major changes in the way you check out your merchandise at all 79 locations in Texas.
If you've been resisting artificial intelligence aka A.I. in other parts of your life, Sam's Club is going to give you a heavy dose of it no matter if you like it or not.
Sam Walton established the first Sam's Wholesale Club on April 7, 1983, in Midwest City, Oklahoma, 21 years after founding Walmart. Sam's Club is a chain of membership-only warehouse club retail outlets owned and operated by Walmart Inc. Sam's Club is the second largest wholesale club, trailing only its primary competitor Costco.
One of the biggest complaints from Sam's customers has been the time it takes waiting in register lines and checking out their items.
Not only does it take time to wait in line and checkout your items, but, Sam's has an employee waiting at the door to look over your receipt and your inspect your cart. It's all meant to help the store minimize theft and loss to help keep pricing down, but let's be honest, it's a huge hassle.
Sam's Club announced earlier this week they that will begin installing equipment for A.I. to scan your items when you leave the store. About 20% of their 599 locations have this new technology installed in stores.
Sam's Club says in their pilot program of the A.I. scanning system, that it allowed their customers to leave the store 23% faster than their traditional processes. They went on to say the intend for the new technology to be in all clubs across the country by the end of 2024.
