Saints Select Saquan Hampton In 6th Round, Alize Mack And Kaden Elliss In 7th Round
The New Orleans were hoping to take care of their needs with their final 3 picks of the 2019 NFL draft. They believe they did so by drafting another safety, a tight end and a linebacker.
The Saints drafted safety Saquan Hampton from Rutgers with their 6th round pick. Hampton led Rutgers with 13 pass breakups and three interceptions in 2018 while totaling 65 tackles with three for a loss. Hampton measures 6'1" 208 pounds and he ran a 4.48 second 40 at the combine. He is also the first player from Rutgers to ever be drafted by the Saints.
The Saints held 2 picks in the 7th round and with pick # 231 they took tight end Alize Mack from Notre Dame. Mack measures at 6'4" and 249 pounds. He ran a 4.7 40 yard dash. He caught 36 passes for 360 yards and 3 TDs last season with the Irish.
The Saints drafted linebacker Kaden Elliss from Idaho with pick #244 which was their 2nd pick of the 7th round. Elliss' dad Luther played for the Lions and Broncos as a defensive lineman. He had 278 total tackles, 47 stops for a loss and 17 sacks during his career with the Vandals.
