LSU Football fans were getting a little worried over the last 24 hours, as it seemed Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda could be packing his gear to head west.

Reports got heavy this week that Aranda would becoming the next Head Coach for UNLV football. But last night that all seemed to come apart, according to college football writers.

Aranda is currently the highest paid assistant coach in all of college football, making $2.5 million a year in Baton Rouge. But Aranda is also one of the hottest names across the country for programs making changes. His name has come up dozens of times over the last few years, but none of those options ever felt as close as this UNLV job.

UNLV just got done upgrading their facilities after a massive reinvestment into their football program. With the NFL's Oakland Raiders set to become the Las Vegas Raiders, UNLV has plans to play their home games in their new stadium. So there are a lot of intriguing things happening in the desert. But probably not enough to get Aranda to leave the #1 team in the nation, and the highest paid job at his current level.
