President Trump Signs New COVID-19 Relief Bill
After asking Congress to get back to work and amend the proposed COVID-19 Relief Bill to bring the payments to U.S. citizens up from $600 to $2,000, President Trump has signed the bill.
The House of Representatives pushed through a stand-alone bill to up the payments to $2,000 but it was shot down in the Senate for budget concerns.
Those qualifying for the maximum stimulus payment include individuals earning up to $75,000 in adjusted gross income, or $150,000 as a married couple filing jointly. These citizens will receive a payment of $600 or $1,200 for a couple and $600 per dependent 18 or younger.
Government officials are saying that if you filed your taxes with direct deposit, you should see the payment in your bank account this week.
Trump also passed a $1.4 trillion bill to fund government agencies through September 2021 avoiding a government shutdown.
