The news was released a little less than a month ago about the new development that has the promise of revitalizing the Lakefront in Lake Charles. In my over 20- plus years of living here I have seen everything from the casino being wiped away by Hurricane Rita to families having picnics, to the locals exercising around the area.

With the word that Port Wonder is coming to the Lakefront, many are interested in knowing what we can expect, and what we should be expecting. I am excited as well as I consider myself an advocate for having things for the locals so we don't have to spend an enormous amount of money contributing to others' economy

On March 12 we will get a sneak preview of what we can expect from Port Wonder. The City Of Lake Charles along with the Children's Museum of Lake Charles and the Louisiana Department Of Wildlife and Fisheries will host the special day from 10 a.m. until noon inside the Lake Charles Civic Center Contraband Room. The event is free and open to the public. The sneak preview will give us all insight on what to expect from Port Wonder once the construction is complete. The project will be estimated at $20 million dollars and will offer something for the entire family and visitors. The entire project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023 which will be here before you realize it. If you would like additional information on the Port Wonder Preview day, call 337-491-1280.
