Danny Etling's NFL career may not be over, but his time in New England appears to be.

After giving him a run at wide receiver, the Patriots have reportedly released the former LSU quarterback, according to ESPN's Field Yates.

Drafted by the Pats in the 7th round of the 2018 draft, he spent last season on New England's practice squad, earning a Super Bowl ring in the process.

Entering training camp this year, New England moved Etling to wide receiver and gave him a role on special teams.

He wasn't able to do enough to keep a roster spot, as the Patriots waived the former Tiger QB in order to sign tight end Eric Saubert.
