Ozzy Osbourne Giving One Lucky Fan a Free Colonoscopy!
Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon are teaming up with CBS and New York – Presbyterian Hospital on a public service initiative to increase awareness for colon cancer and promote early colonoscopy screenings to help save lives. Sharon, Ozzy and ‘The Late Show With David Letterman’ announcer Alan Kalter helped launch the 2012 CBS Cares Colonoscopy Sweepstakes by appearing in a PSA that aired last weekend during CBS’ ’60 Minutes.’
One lucky winner will receive a free colonoscopy, which can be important in helping detect colon cancer early and making treatment easier. No, Ozzy won’t actually be performing the procedure — despite taking on the Dr. Ozzy moinker for his ‘Trust Me, I’m Dr. Ozzy’ advice book — but really it’s better that way, isn’t it?
“Ozzy and I are proud to be part of this innovative project by CBS,” says Sharon, a colon cancer survivor. “My life was saved by a colonoscopy that Ozzy urged me to have and I hope everyone who sees the campaign will enter the sweepstakes and talk to their doctor about the importance of screenings.”
The winner and a guest will receive a four-day / three-night trip to New York with airfare and hotel accommodations included, $500 spending cash and, of course, a free colonoscopy at New York – Presbyterian Hospital (for the winner only). In addition, the winner can expect to experience some pretty gnarly side effects:
“As the colonoscopy begins, you will be given a drug that will make you feel like you’re at an early 70′s Black Sabbath concert — but without the music,” reads an explanation of the procedure. “If the doctor starts to look like Ozzy, please report the side effect to him or the Prince of Darkness – whomever you see first.”
