One South Carolina Man Lied About COVID-19 Diagnosis For Paid Vacation Time
Fox News reports that one South Carolina man is facing charges after being accused of forging a doctor's note with a fake Coronavirus diagnosis.
He did this in order to get paid vacation time from his employer who shut down for 5 days for disinfecting.
31-year-old Jeffrey Travis Long was arrested in Spartanburg County Thursday.
He was charged with breaching the peace and forgery.
Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said in a news conference, "It’s bad enough that everybody’s lives have been put in upheaval just trying to stay safe and get ahead of the curve here and get a grip on this coronavirus without having somebody causing basically massive panic."
Long has since been fired from the Sitel call center where he worked.
As of Friday afternoon, South Carolina has had 81 confirmed coronavirus cases and one death.
