Old Man Makes The Ugliest Food Ever On YouTube
I recently stumbled upon a YouTube channel of an old man cooking the most unappealing food, yet he gets crazy views. So I was curious and did a deep dive into his videos.
The star of the channel is Tom Willett He was born in 1938 in Chennault, Kentucky. Willet has been everything from a country singer, comedy writer, actor, and now Youtube star. According to Willett, he's had "over 800 jobs in front of the camera", mostly uncredited and non-speaking roles. His most notable acting performances were on the NBC series Dear John, but he's also played small roles on Happy Days and The Drew Carey Show.
Willett goes by the pseudonym Featureman on Youtube. His first video was posted in 2006, but he didn't hit it big until 2012 when he posted a tutorial video on how to eat a watermelon. It became a viral sensation and now has over 3 million views. The Huffington Post even went as far as to coin Willet "the Bob Ross of watermelon eating."
I like watching competitive eaters on YouTube like Randy Santel, Matt Stonie, Katina Eats Kilos, Joel Hansen, and many others. One day when I was watching Randy dominate a challenge, a noticed a suggested video of an old man that was apparently cooking a ground beef sandwich. It sparked my curiosity right off the bat. I thought to myself, isn't a ground beef sandwich a hamburger? So I clicked it.
And there was Tom informing me at the beginning of the video that a ground beef sandwich was in fact not a hamburger. As the video continued I can't help but notice how ugly and unappealing his cooking was. But the video currently has over 96,000 views, so obviously, people are really digging his content.
I still can't wrap my head around this concept of a hamburger sandwich. Tom says it's not on a bun and that he won't put lettuce or tomatoes on it. So, is that what makes a hamburger a hamburger? Because I've eaten hamburgers on sliced bread and added tomatoes and lettuce on sandwiches before.
I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that Tom is not a trained chef or even a decent home cook. In other videos he's making spaghetti sandwiches, split pea soup, eating frozen food meals, and having many more unappealing food adventures.
Tom is very monotone when he speaks. He doesn't have much charisma, yet I was hanging on every word he said. He usually has a talking topic for every video ranging from how to get into acting to planning cheap meals. Willett is entertaining without being entertaining, if you know what I mean. I'm now a subscriber and plan to go on another video binge tonight watching more of his older videos.
Watch this video with extreme caution, because you may be the next person to dive into a Featureman video marathon.
