
New Orleans King Cake Legend Dead At 91
A legendary New Orleans king cake maker has died. According to a post on Facebook, Manuel Randazzo Sr. passed away last week at the age of 91.
Manuel Randazzo was the last surviving co-creator of a king cake recipe that has become a part of carnival lore in Louisiana and especially New Orleans. Randazzo along with his brothers and father created the unique recipe at the family bakery back in 1965.
Services for Randazzo were held on Saturday in Chalmette.
