McNeese Holding Professional Clothing Donation Drive For Students

McNeese University has seen a need for students to have access to professional clothing to wear to interviews and to work.

The clothing drive will now be an annual event at McNeese. They're calling it the Cowboy Closet.

Director of McNeese’s Career and Professional Development Services, Andrea Burton, said in a press release:

Unfortunately, many students don’t have access to the funds to buy a new suit or other professional apparel for an interview, or they need sometimes up to a year’s worth of professional clothing for an internship or residency, and that’s financially out of reach for them. We have been working together closely to try and ensure that this need won’t be a barrier to student success.

 

Burton went on to say that the idea came from the Special Projects Coordinator with the Office of Business Affairs, Tammie Mayo, to help remove some barriers that students face when seeking employment.

Donations Needed:

• Men’s and women’s suits
• Button-down shirts
• Blouses,
• Dresses
• Slacks
• Shoes
• Belts
• Ties
• Scrubs
• Outerwear
• McNeese polo shirts
• Coat hangers

If you have clothing or other items you would like to donate, here are the details of the event:

• Where: Noland Alumni Pavilion (directions)
• When: Saturday, May 21
• Time: 8:00am – 12:00 noon

The Cowboy Closet will also accept monetary donations if you're not able to attend the event. Also, if you would like to volunteer for the clothing drive, email Andrea Burton at aburton@mcneese.edu.
