McNeese Football Head Coach Gary Goff Discusses The Eastern Illinois Game
LAKE CHARLES, LA: The Pokes suffered a gut punch last week when they blew a 14-point lead at halftime in Eastern Illinois and lost with a Panthers' 56-yard field goal as time was winding down in the game.
Every weekday leading into every home game, Mikey O in the Afternoon will have your chance to call in and win tickets sometime in the 4:00pm hour. Download our free station mobile app to win your tickets.
The Pokes return home this week after a long three-game road skid and will face conference foe Nichols. The Colonels are in the same boat as the Cowboys with both teams looking for their first win of the season. One thing is for sure, one team will leave The Hole this Saturday with mission accomplished.
Coach Goff has addressed some of the issues with the team announcing this week that three players have been let go from the team. Running back Cam Thomas, wide receiver Jalen Johnson, and linebacker Kylen Armstead will no longer be on the roster. Goff has made it clear over the last few weeks repeating that "we are going to be a team" and he's shown since day one after taking over the McNeese football program that he won't stand for player disruptions that could derail his ultimate plan for rebuilding the program.
