McNeese Cowgirl Senior Softball Pitcher Named To All-Region Team
McNeese senior pitcher Shaelyn Sanders has been named to the NFCA (National Fastpitch Coaches Association) All-Region (South) Team, the organization announced the teams prior to the start of the NCAA Regional Tournament last week.
Sanders, a native of Splendora, Texas was named to the third team among players from C-USA, SEC, Southern, SWAC, and Sun Belt conferences that make up the South Region.
Sanders concluded her playing career by leading the Cowgirls pitching staff in wins (20), ERA (1.76), innings pitched (199.1), strikeouts (156), and shutouts (7).
In conference games, Sanders led the SLC in wins (12) posting a 12-1 record, ERA (0.82), shutouts (6), strikeouts (81) and for this she was named the Southland's "Pitcher of the Year". Sanders was also named to the Southland Conference All-Tournament Team.
All players named to the All-Region teams are eligible for All-American status which will be released prior to the Women's College World Series.
