McNeese Head Football Coach Goff Press Conference Addresses Alcorn St. Game
LAKE CHARLES, LA: The Pokes are 0-3 this season and after a dismal performance at Alcorn State this past weekend, Coach Gary Goff sat down to discuss the game with reporters.
The Pokes came into the game with high hopes last Saturday as a revamped team took the field led by former JUCO offensive player of the year, Nate Glantz, for what seemed like a winnable game.
For the third week in a row, the offensive line play was shaky at best. Glantz had no time to throw the ball comfortably in the pocket and they couldn't generate holes for running back D'Angelo Durham.
The defense was exposed by the Alcorn St. running game. The Cowboys' 3-3-5 defense is designed to put more playmakers on the field to match up to passing offenses.
This week the Pokes battle the Eastern Illinois Panthers who are fresh off a 14-13 victory over #25 Illinois St. The Cowboys are traveling to face a team that's coming off the high of a huge win at home, and they'll be looking to continue that trend this Saturday.
