Southwest Louisiana residents have been without Market Basket stores since Hurricanes Laura and Delta ripped through the area six weeks apart, devastating almost every Market Basket store located in Calcasieu Parish.

The only stores that reopened a few weeks after the store were in Westlake and Sulphur. All the other locations were completely destroyed during the storms, leaving the local grocery store with the task of have to completely rebuild each one.

The light at the end of the tunnel is coming, as Market Basket is making progress reopening stores in Calcasieu Parish. A few weeks ago, the newly renovated Vinton location reopened, and the store is gorgeous.

Now the question is when will the other locations reopen? All four locations in Lake Charles are currently closed, including the Lake Street, Ryan Street, Nelson Road, and 3rd Avenue locations.

We went searching and found an update on Market Basket's website detailing when the stores in Calcasieu Parish are set to reopen. The store slated to open first is the Lake Street store in Lake Charles. They are hoping to have that location opened back up by late May, followed by the 3rd Avenue store in Lake Charles with a tentative reopening date of late June. The other locations are projected to reopen in late fall of 2021.

Last but not least, the DeQuincy location is currently under renovation but a date for reopening has not been set.

Get ready for the Market Baskets to make a strong comeback in Southwest Louisiana, and we'll have some great smokehouse boudin and sausage back in our lives soon.
