Lynyrd Skynyrd Concert at Coushatta Canceled — Plus a Picture of the Real Leonard Skinner

Part of being on the radio is passing along fun stuff. The other part is being the bearer of not-so-great stuff. Early this morning, Heather and I were notified that Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to cancel the Saturday concert at Coushatta. It has been rescheduled for June 8th.

Back on Valentine's Day weekend, Lynyrd was scheduled to leave Wyoming for a concert in Biloxi. Shortly before they were to leave, Gary Rossington was taken to the hospital . The band released this statement:

" Rossington “has been hospitalized in Wyoming with an abdominal infection. We are awaiting further tests and treatment, once we receive information on Gary’s status we will release additional information. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Rossington thought he was well enough to travel but his doctors just didn't think it would be safe, so the concert was canceled and rescheduled.

And now....The real Leonard Skinner.

By the way, even though he gave them a hard time about their hair back in school, the band later became friends with Skinner and he posed for the picture inside their Nothin' 'Fancy album.

Skinner died in 2010.
