The College Football Selection Committee released its initial playoff rankings on Tuesday and the number one team in the nation came in at number two.

It's not the worst thing to not be number one in the initial rankings, you can still hold onto that motivation of feeling like you're being disrespected based on who you've beaten.

In case you've forgotten, LSU has three wins against teams who were ranked in the top 10 when they played them and they're 8-0.

Here's how the top 10 shook out:

  1. Ohio State (8-0)
  2. LSU (8-0)
  3. Alabama (8-0)
  4. Penn State (8-0)
  5. Clemson (9-0)
  6. Georgia (7-1)
  7. Oregon (8-1)
  8. Utah (8-1)
  9. Oklahoma (7-1)
  10. Florida (7-2)

The most noticeable on this list has to be Clemson who's 9-0 ranked outside the top 4. Dabo Sweeny will certainly use that as motivation for his group.

As for LSU, this game coming up against Alabama is obviously huge, if they were to take down the Crimson Tide on Saturday there's no doubt they would be ranked number one next week. Although Ohio State is no slouch as well, it should be a fun end to the college football season.
