Louisiana To Stay In Modified Phase 2 COVID-19 Protocol
Governor John Bel Edwards held a press conference yesterday on his ongoing plan for reopening Louisiana during the coronavirus pandemic.
However, there won't be much reopening happening at least for the next 21 days. In a press conference yesterday Gov. Edwards announced that the state will be staying in the modified Phase 2 protocol he enforced earlier this month.
Edwards said that state health officials are seeing some improvement but there is still a lot of work to do. He also said that Louisiana's COVID-19 cases are plateauing but that they are still concerning because they are plateauing at a very high level. On Monday, the state reported the highest single day coronavirus death toll since July.
The governor said it's his plan to vaccinate 70% of Louisiana residents. Currently the state has vaccinated 22,000 people and still have 39,000 vaccines from Phizer on hand.
