Why Louisiana’s Roads Rank Among the Deadliest for Pedestrians
(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - There's a roadway activity here in Louisiana that ranks as one of the deadliest in the country.
Concern over pedestrian safety is growing throughout Louisiana. In the past ten years, pedestrian deaths have surpassed passenger deaths, according to the state Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD).

In Louisiana, nighttime or dimly lit conditions account for over 80% of pedestrian fatalities. The majority of pedestrian fatalities are males aged 25 to 64. Among those examined, alcohol was found in 30–40% of pedestrian deaths on average.
Officials urge that cooperation from both parties on the roadway is necessary whether you're driving or walking. Eye contact, a nod, and a pause could mean the difference between a disaster and a safe journey.
