Gov. Landry Says That Furloughs For Louisiana Positions Funded By Federal Dollars Could Happen

(KHLA - Lake Charles, Louisiana) - Governor Jeff Landry hinted today in an emergency declaration that Louisiana state jobs that are funded by federal dollars could be furloughed.

Landry announced late last week that Louisiana would attempt to supplement SNAP benefits on a state level during the federal government shutdown.

Are Jobs In Louisiana At Risk With The Federal Government Shutdown?

Political analyst Mike Sherman was questioned by FOX 8 regarding rumors that the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) might have issued a letter alerting people to potential furloughs. Although government employees are currently feeling the consequences of the shutdown, Sherman stated that many more Louisiana residents may soon be affected.

Sherman noted that many Louisiana services rely on federal financing, even though state organizations like the Department of Motor Vehicles might not be immediately affected.
