Louisiana is #1 for COVID-19 Vaccines!
It's been a long time coming, but the great state of Louisiana has been ranked #1 - and this time it's for something good!
The long road to reopening in Louisiana has been tough. With almost the entire state's economy shut down due to restrictions put in place to help us beat this pandemic, and the plethora of other catastrophes putting roadblocks in our path (like the record setting hurricane season and crippling winter storms) - it's a bonafide miracle that we've been able to successfully store and distribute all three of the coveted COVID-19 vaccines.
Not only have we been able to adapt and overcome the obstacles in the way of inoculating the entire general public - we're leading the nation! More specifically, we are leading the nation in giving out the second dose of vaccines that require two rounds in the recommended time frame. While the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is a one-and-done shot, both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines require 2 shots at either end of a pretty specific window. For the Pfizer it is a 21 day wait, and for Moderna it's 28.
According to BRProud, Louisiana is number 1 when it comes to getting these shots properly, so the rest of the nation may have a laugh at our expense when it comes lists that talk about highest/lowest incomes, crime, or any of the other rankings that show us in a bad light - but not when it comes to the fight against this pandemic. The latest tier of citizens approved for the vaccine is anyone age 16 or older with certain high-risk health conditions.
