Today is the day people have been waiting for, as the lights are back on, the machines are fired up, and local casinos open their doors at 6:00am. I guess folks were really excited about the reopening because there was already a line to get in at 5:00am this morning.

We decided to visit a couple of the casinos this morning to see if there were people already there waiting in line to get in, and the answer is yes. There was, in fact, a line..

L'Auberge Casino in Lake Charles had people waiting out by the front door under the valet awning to get into the resort. As you see in the picture above, they were practicing the six-feet social distancing protocol.

Then we drove by the Golden Nugget Resort and passed through the valet area to see if there was a bunch of people there. Pictured above, there indeed were a few folks right inside the casino foyer area by the front entrance waiting in line to get into the casino.

The state of Louisiana and the gaming commission handed down guidelines for Phase One of reopening the casinos. They can open the casino doors starting at 6:00am this morning to a 25% capacity which includes their workers and 50% of their gaming machines can also be on.

Employees will be wearing the proper PPE, including masks, while working and guests are also encouraged to wear masks while on the casino floor.
