I think it's safe to say that we have one of the finest police departments anywhere and if you'd like to join the great men and women that make up the Lake Charles Police Department, here's your chance to see if you can make the grade.

This Saturday, at the Lake Charles Civic Center Contraband Room from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the LCPD will hold an open recruiting event.

In case you're wondering about the various qualifications to join the LCPD:

The event will be held from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Lake Charles Civic Center Contraband Room.

Potential Applicants must:

  • United States citizen.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Have an unblemished criminal history.

Of course, in addition to passing the above criteria, applicants will undergo a series of physical abilities test as well as a psychological screening. You should also be prepared for a polygraph exam and an extensive background check.

In case you're wondering about the pay scale, you can expect to start at $17.97 an hour and receive a city supplemental of $200 a month.
