‘This Festival Made Me’—Lauren Daigle Shares Heartwarming BTS Video Leading Up to Epic Hometown Performance
Lauren Daigle has performed in nearly every corner of the globe, but it was playing the biggest event in her hometown of Lafayette that she described as a "dream come true."
Daigle's highly-anticipated Festival International performance was a highlight on Thursday night (Apr. 27) but a behind-the-scenes video that was posted by the national recording artist shows that she may have been just as (if not more) excited to play this show than her fans were to see her.
The video opens up with Daigle speaking to someone off-camera while driving an SUV into Downtown Lafayette. She claps her hands with a mixture of excitement and nerves as she expresses that she is "losing her mind" at the thought of playing Festival International.
Daigle described it as her "dream day" that included "family, crawfish, and hometown culture."
She went on to say that Festival "made" her into the artist that she is, looking back on when she attended FIL during "every year of her childhood." Daigle said she would sit at the Festival and dream of being on that stage one day.
"When will I ever get the chance to play this?"
It can be argued that Lauren Daigle has played in far better venues, in much larger cities, and at way larger festivals; but being able to realize her dream of playing Festival International in her hometown of Lafayette was a special moment for Daigle that she won't soon forget.
The BTS video gives us a glimpse into what Daigle was going through that day as fans converged upon Downtown Lafayette to enjoy the Festival and secure their spot inside Parc International early for what would end up being a maxed-out crowd.
See Daigle and her team enjoying crawfish as well as the special moment she shared with Marc Broussard, after coming full circle to perform with him on stage.
I'm sure we'll see Lauren performing in Lafayette again one day; but for now, let's try to get her to Antarctica.
